E141: Russ Dyer…The look that changed a man’s life

In this episode, Mark sits down with Russ Dyer.
Russ was a man who seemed to have everything, with the exception of one thing. Fulfillment. He felt like he was just going through the motions. He told his wife he was not sure how much longer he could keep being on the course he was on.

One trip changed his life. Specifically, the look he saw on a young boys face changed everything.

2. Men crave simple honor, and genuine respect.

3. If your husband is struggling, you might find it hard to give him respect. If you focus on the behavior problem you will drive him away. Underneath the struggling behavior is a struggling heart.

E136: How do I bring up a problem to my spouse?

It's hard to learn how to bring up problems with out spouse. In this episode Mark and Adena discuss how to become the person that can do this.

1. Rethink how you see problems

  • Problems are supposed to exist
  • The problems you have are normal
  • Problems are the next opportunity, not the next threat

2. Refocus

  • See yourself differently. Be open to see the error within yourself.
  • See your spouse differently. Have compassion for their problem. It hurts them as well.

3. Practical tips

  • Talk to a trusted mentor
  • Talk during peacetime
  • Give space in the relationship for discussing problems.
  • Communicate these words: “I am saying this because I want us to be all that we were made to be.”
