Unmet expectations can cause great pain. It's like slowly drinking a poison that erodes away the spirit. We begin a journey thinking, “This will be great!” But it then becomes, “This doesn't feel so great, and when does the great part start?” After a year or two, the thought becomes, “I'm not sure the great part is going to come for me.” Finally, at some point we can resort to the empty thought that says, “This is never going to be any better than it is. I not sure where I missed the great part, but it's not going to come my way.”
Here are some other thoughts from this episode:
- Unmet expectations come from unrealistic expectations.
- With a change in thinking, we can stop being disappointed about our life.
- Problems do not get to decide our life.
